  • WHAT WE DO

    Domestic

At Bluerock Electrical we specialise in all domestic work. This can be the repair and maintenance of an existing installation or additions to it. We frequently add extra sockets, lights, or new cooker circuits. We also accept call outs to emergency breakdowns and are experts at tracing faults.

    Commercial

We have several customers who are owners of shops or small businesses in North London. We carry out all electrical work for them with minimum disruption for their customers.

    Tests & Inspections

At Bluerock Electrical we are able to offer an Electrical Inspection Condition Report (EICR) for most installations. This will include a list of all necessary repairs and improvements. It is particularly useful to homebuyers so they can know of any safety issues or costly repairs before they purchase.

Also, insurers and letting agencies can insist on EICRs being carried out as the consequences of not doing so can be serious. There are around 30 deaths and 4000 accidents per year involving electricity in the UK. If you are a landlord and have not had your electrical installation professionally checked you could be held liable and your insurance invalidated.

At Bluerock Electrical we carry £10,000,000 public and employers liability. We also carry Professional Indemnity so that even when we have not carried out but only tested it, we are covered.

    Light Industrial

We are proud to include John Jones, fine art framers and Frank Godfrey, award winning family butchers amongst our clients. We wired a whole new workshop for John Jones and diagnosed faults on machines. We are also qualified to Test and Inspect industrial installations.

    Rewires

Often we can repair an installation or bring it up to date with a fuse board upgrade. We won’t advise you to rewire your house if it is not needed. Sometimes it’s cheaper to pay for good advice! However, if the installation has reached the end of it’s useful and safe life, then Bluerock Electrical can offer you a rewire at a competitive price. We certify and guarantee our work in accordance with the latest Building Regulations and Requirements for Electrical Installations BS7671. We understand that your home is not a building site and do everything we can to ensure that life continues as normal whilst this major building work is underway.

    Prepurchase Reports

Often when a surveyor writes a report before a house purchase they only make a brief comment on the electrical installation. They simply recommend an EICR for a detailed analysis which we can provide.
Customers can sometimes be anxious about a purchase because they believe their property requires a rewire. The EICR, however, often finds that an upgrade of the Consumer Unit (fuseboard) and remedial repairs will leave the installation 'Satisfactory'.
Similarly, if you are selling and your purchaser is demanding a reduction in price equivalent to a rewire, we find that a EICR followed by recommended action will leave the property "Satisfactory" and, crucially, insurable.
Bluerock Electrical are always fair to both parties, and aim to offer practical and cost effective solution in these situations.

    Did you know..?

    New Consumer Units

Consumer Units used to be called fuse boards but as the modern ones contain miniature circuit breakers not fuses, the name has changed to CU for short. So now you know!

Changing your fuse board to a 17th Editions BS7671 CU can make a massive difference to the safety and the functionality of the electrical installation. Modern CU’s contain RCD’s (Residual Current Device), and these give far greater protection from electrical shock. This is one of the key improvements in modern fuse boards. Also, it is much easier to re-set an RCD or MCB than it is to change a fuse wire.

When changing the C.U it is important to test the entire installation to make sure that there are no major or dangerous deviations from the regulations. We always try to include any immediate repairs so that when we have finished you get a clean bill of health in the form of an installation certificate. If there are repairs we cannot include within the price we discuss it with the customer and agree a figure to complete.

    Superb Service

I recently had an oven installed by Peter's team at Bluerock. They did a super job when things turned out to be more complicated than expected. And they went to extra lengths to make sure that the installation was done to a very high standard, even when my kitchen layout made that difficult. Very grateful for a high standard of service.

    Prompt, pleasant and efficient

Peter Rolinson provided a quick and courteous response to my request. His electrician, Darek, was punctual, efficient and also courteous. He carried out the work quickly and to a high standard; he also cleaned up afterwards. I will definitely use Bluerock Electrical again.

The most trust-worthy electrician I've found

I met Peter Rolinson, the owner of Blue Rock electrics four years ago when I was collecting quotes to have our eleven-flat building re-wired. He was the only electrician of the four I met who actually said: 'Your building doesn't need to be re-wired' - thus saving our block at least £50,000. Since then I've requested his help half a dozen times - the last just a few months ago when I blew a fuse, leaving our flat (with kid) without electricity. I called Mr Rolinson and he re-arranged his schedule to be there for 9am the next morning, no emergency charges. Blue Rock continues to service the electrics in our block; the work is always excellent and the charges transparent and fair. I couldn't recommend Mr Rolinson and his colleagues more.

    David Metcalf, Holloway

    October 2013

“We discovered that our electrics were ancient and lethal and we asked Peter to rewire our house. One can't escape how disruptive it is, so it's important to have someone who is efficient and good at the job. But one also wants someone who has patience, who is flexible, open and communicative. Peter was all these, and sensitive to the impact of the work on us. He was an excellent person to undertake the work. His team were friendly and they did a very good job.”

He is able to work on small and complex jobs. He worked on putting in recess lights in our sitting room and making ceiling lights in our kitchen safe as well as checking the electrics for the whole house - all are working perfectly. I can wholeheartedly recommend him.”

“Peter recently undertook the complete rewiring of our Victorian house. He managed to interpret our ideas for multiple switching and circuits and provided a system which works very well for us. The work was completed to both time and budget and Peter and his team worked well in the context of a very young family living in situ whilst the electrics and other building work was going on.”
